Delays in accessing mammography and other examinations under the Quebec Breast Cancer Screening Program (PQDCS)
Does your designated screening center (CDD) offer you an appointment outside the usual wait time? You may undergo your exams in another CDD, because the waiting times vary from one center to another.
Wait times recommended by the Quebec Breast Cancer Screening Program (PQDCS):
- Breast Cancer Screening : 6 weeks or less
- Additional examinations
- additional X-rays : 3 weeks or less
- ultrasound : 3 weeks or less
All CDDs and CRID meet all quality standards required by the PQDCS . In addition, the images from your previous screenings performed in the Capitale-Nationale region are available to other CDDs with the consent you gave during your screening mammogram; therefore, so you don’t have to do anything else.
The Ministère de la Santé et des Services sociaux (MSSS) publishes monthly the wait times of all CDDs/CRID in the province. This data indicates the time taken to get an appointment for a screening mammogram and for two investigative exams (i.e. additional x-rays and ultrasound) by CDD under the PQDCS.
